TRANSITIONING THROUGH DULLES CLASS B AIRSPACE

01.   Monitor IAD ATIS 134.85. (Then switch to approach control frequency appropriate for your sector-126.1, 120.45, 124.65)

02. “Dulles Approach, Cessna_______.” (Wait for a response.)

03. Cessna_______, Dulles Approach, go ahead.

04. “Cessna_______, a Cessna 172 over Culpeper at 3,500, requesting Bravo airspace transition to Frederick.”

05. Cessna_______, Dulles Squawk ____. (There will be a pause while ATC radar identifies you.) Cessna_______, radar contact, 30 Southwest of Dulles, cleared through Bravo airspace, proceed as requested at 3,500.

06. “Dulles, Cessna_______ has Frederick in sight.”

07. Cessna_______, Dulles, descend VFR your discretion.

08. Cessna_______, your position 8 miles southwest of Frederick Airport, radar service terminated, squawk 1200.

09. “Roger Dulles, Cessna_______, changing to 1200.”


ARRIVING DULLES

01. Monitor IAD ATIS 134.85.  (Then switch to approach control frequency appropriate for your arrival sector-126.1, 120.45, 124.65)

02. “Dulles Aproach, Cessna_______.” (Wait for a response.)

03. Cessna_______, Dulles Approach, go ahead.

04. “Cessna_______, a Cessna 172, over (landmark) at (altitude), inbound to IAD with (ATIS Code).”

05. Cessna_______, Dulles, Squawk ____, plan runway 1R.

06. (Pilot sets assigned transponder code.)

07. Cessna_______, Radar contact, two-zero miles southwest of Dulles, cleared to enter Bravo Airspace, Maintain (altitude assigned).  Fly heading____.  Report airport in sight.

08. “Cessna_______, Roger, Cleared to enter Bravo airspace and will report the airport.”

09. “Dulles, Cessna_______ has 1R in sight.”

10. Cessna_______, Dulles, proceed straight into runway 1R. Contact Tower 120.1.

11. “Cessna_______, Roger.” (Switch to assigned tower frequency.) “Dulles Tower, Cessna_______ with you for 1R.”

12. Cessna_______, Dulles Tower, Runway 1R cleared to land.

13. “Cessna_______, Roger, cleared to land.”

14. Cessna_______, contact Ground 121.9 when clear.

15. “Dulles Ground, Cessna_______, Taxi to Signature.” 


DEPARTING DULLES

01. Monitor IAD ATIS 134.85. (Then switch to clearance delivery.)

02. “Dulles Clearance (135.7), Cessna_______, a Cessna 172, VFR to Culpeper at 2,500.”

03. Cessna_______, Dulles Clearance, cleared out of Bravo airspace, fly runway heading, maintain 2,000, departure control will be 125.05, squawk ____.

04. “Cessna_______, Roger.” (Pilot reads back above clearance.) (Then switch to Ground Control.)

05. “Dulles Ground (121.9), Cessna_______, at Hawthorne, ready to taxi.”

06. Cessna_______, Dulles Ground, Taxi to runway 30. (When ready for takeoff, contact tower.)

07. “Dulles Tower, Cessna_______, Ready on 30.”

08. Cessna_______, Dulles Tower, 
      a. Cleared for takeoff.
      b. Hold short for landing traffic.
      c. Taxi into position and hold.

09. (After takeoff), Cessna_______, contact departure.
