Welcome to the first edition
of the CAS Newsletter. At the present time, we have approximately
48 members and growing.
There's a Web Site for
the Squadron that can be found at the following URL: http://www.gtechno.com/cas
It has a lot of information to
help you stay up to date with events and area activities.
Speaking about events,
the Culpeper AirFest will be held on October 9th - '99 at the Culpeper
Airport. There's a lot of information on the web site about the AirFest,
but in case your not on the internet, here are a few highlights:
Taildragger and Antique
Fly-In & Camp-Out on Friday, the 8th of October for pilot and
crew.
Open to the public
10 am - 4 pm.
Pancake Breakfast early
Saturday morning.
Static Taildragger
& Antique Display
Radio Control Aircraft
Demos
Young Eagle Flights
(Free)
Airplane Rides (Donations)
Skydiving Exhibition
Flying Circus Fly-By
Flying Farmer - Charlie Kulp
L-39 Albatross - Dan
Sullivan
Sukoi - Don Rehnalds
Surprise Fly-By
We reserve the right to add
more activities to the AirFest without futher notice.
There will be a local Culpeper
NOTAM on the AWOS frequency, 120.025 Khz, concerning AirFest Activity.
If you plan to fly in, try
to be on the field by 9 am. This is a good excuse to show up Friday
night and camp over. There may be a hangar or two for the 'faint
of heart' to sleep in. So, not having camping equipment doesn't qualify
as an excuse for not coming.

The Culpeper Aero Squadron meets
at the Culpeper Airport FBO facility at 3 pm on the last Sunday
of the month.
Members and friends are encouraged
to attend.
A meeting of the Board will
be held after the regular meeting if deemed necessary. CAS members
have an open invitation to attend the Board Meetings.
Membership cards are
available and need to be presented for special gas pricing by members when
purchasing gas at the Culpeper Airport. You do not have to
be based at the Culpeper Airport to receive the discount, just being a
member of the Culpeper Aero Squadron and presenting your card gets you
the discount.
Until you receive your
card, the airport will have a list of members until each member has received
their card. After that, the card will be required for the discount.
Non-Members
You can join up with the Squadron
by visiting the web site and going to the CAS Membership Benefits page
which has info about the Squadron and an on-line application.
Dues are $20, for CAS membership
through July 31st, 2001. It does include one CAS Patch normally
available for $5 each.

Recent Additions to
the Web Site
A new page is available for Radio
Control Modelers with two videos of a model airplane towing a banner .
One video is of the model airplane doing an air pick-up of a banner and
the other is of a ground take-off towing a banner.
There is also an R/C
newsletter with pictures and it's located in the newsletter section
of the web site. We hope to have more newsletters from various clubs
around the area posted at the site in the near future.
Would you like to find an
airport identifier for any airport in the United States without the chart.
Now you can, just click on the ICAO Airport Id Lookup link on the CAS Web
Site Home Page. All 50 states are there. Just click on the
state and every airport with an identifier will be listed by City and Name.
A Sponsor's page has been
added to help support the cost of the CAS Web Site. You can help
support the site by checking out the advertisers.
It is hoped that some of the
advertisers will offer special pricing and offers to CAS members and friends.
So, the next time your out buying that $100 hamburger or meal at a distant
airport, get the phone number and name of the restaurant and send it to:
WebAds@gtechno.com.
Consider other businesses, where you've been pleased with the service and
let us know about them.
The next two CAS meetings are scheduled
for the 26th of Sept and the 24th of Oct at 3pm at the Culpeper Airport
FBO. Members and friends are invited. Membership cards will
be available at the meeting along with patches if they haven't been mailed
in the meantime.
