SmartCharge
and the Model STS-7600 Aviation Handheld Radio
Although the STS-7600 aviation radio has been off the market for quite a number of years, it's still in wide use throughout the aviation community. Shortly after the STS-7600 came to the marketplace, it was discovered that the battery charging techniques employed were less than desirable and the life and endurance of the battery was greatly reduced. The SmartCharge product line was developed to solve a similar problem with the Epson HX-20 Notebook Computer a few years prior to the arrival of the STS. The design allowed the charger to be plugged in continuously to the HX-20 without damage to the battery. In fact, the life of the battery, when SmartCharge was used, was extended beyond the manufacturer and customer's expectations.
The SmartCharge design was modified for use with the STS-7600 and several other aviation handheld radios that were on the market throughout the eighties and early nineties. The design worked so well that STS had us modify their desk stand charger to the SmartCharge design. Many of the SmartCharge, STS-7600 Chargers pictured top left were sold throughtout the US and internationally and are still in service today.
For those aviators still using the STS-7600 Series Handheld, we are offering new batteries for your STS and the SmartCharge Battery Charger.
